Track Details

Syndemic 
The epidemics of HIV, STIs and viral hepatitis have merged into a syndemic in the US.  This track will provide information on strategies for reaching populations impacted by this syndemic.  Also, best practices for providing sexual health services including implementing screening, testing and treatment will be presented. 
 
Environmental Health 
The environmental health track will present information on evidence-based practices and best practices to creating environments where all communities can live, play, learn, and thrive.  Topics will include water quality, best practices for food inspection, onsite septic treatment field evaluations and other topics related to conserve and protecting the quality of North Dakota’s air, land, and water resources. 
 
Infectious Disease
Preventing and controlling the spread of infectious diseases is a cornerstone of public health initiatives. The Infectious Disease track will address emerging infectious diseases, highlight the critical role of immunizations, analyze disease trends in North Dakota, outline effective strategies for outbreak management, and feature a tabletop exercise that simulates an evolving public health scenario.
 
Community Health 
The Community Health track will focus on innovative and novel strategies to provide essential public health services. This track will explore the role of community health workers in building trust and delivering care, as well as the utilization of pharmacy in enhancing community health by offering accessible services and medications. It will also examine efforts to improve food security as a critical aspect of health, along with other collaborative approaches that aim to increase access to healthcare. The discussions will highlight the importance of partnerships, community engagement, and sustainable solutions to address health and improve overall well-being.
 
Public Health Smorgasbord
The Public Health Smorgasbord track explores innovative ways to improve health outcomes through systems thinking, resource implementation, and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence. Hear from community voices, engage with experts on practical strategies, and gain new perspectives to strengthen problem-solving in public health.
 
Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs
Substance misuse, including tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs, remains a significant public health challenge. This track will focus on key areas such as core competencies in substance misuse prevention, the risks of secondhand cannabis smoke, progress in addressing the opioid epidemic, and other critical topics. These presentations aim to reframe prevention strategies and inspire renewed energy and commitment to community-based efforts.
